60th Birthday Party Extravaganza | Park City

Oh my. When I turn 60, I hope I’ve accumulated as much love & joy & warmth in my life as this man.

Francis’s birthday party — Night 1 (Night 2 can be found here) — had all the makings of an epic event. Family & friends flying in from all over the globe, talent from across the country to entertain guests, Best of State catering with gorgeous foods, and a mountain-elegant setting to complete the package. These highlights are from the Welcome Party, a night of jazz and comedy to greet everyone before Saturday’s action-packed activities and gala.

So, yes, hugely cool. And still somehow hugely intimate. Francis greeted each & every guests with the enthusiasm that accompanies seeing the best of friends from days long gone: wide open arms, enormous hugs, beaming smiles, and occasional tears. Watching him welcome everyone individually was pretty amazing. Although I absolutely appreciate the world-class cuisine, celebration, and setting, all that emotion was actually my favorite part of the weekend :).
