Marin Ireland | Tony-Nominated Actress

I’m very excited to present this post.  Like, bouncing-off-the-walls excited.

The following is a specs shoot for Tony Award-nominated stage and screen actress, Marin Ireland.  In addition for her accolades on Broadway, Marin has worked with renowned actors like Claire Danes, Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, Anne Hathaway, Kevin Bacon, Kelsey Grammer, Chris Messina, and Mandy Patinkin for her roles in Homeland, Mildred Pierce, Revolutionary Road, I Am Legend, Rachel Getting Married, The Following, Boss, and 28 Hotel Rooms.

Marin is also the star of a new AMC-produced television show debuting this fall — The Divide, which sounds like it’s going to be the Next Show To Watch — and I was fortunate to get the opportunity to photograph her at this past Sundance while she was in town networking for her show.

The entire experience was, well, cool.  V and I drove to a super swank AMC party at the Sundance Lounge to pick up Marin for our shoot.  Which made me feel rather dapper, naturally (ahem, “we’re here for Marin Ireland”).  And then, she couldn’t.have.been a sweeter person.  As we drove out to our studio (yes we had a celebrity in our backseat) she was upbeat, personable, and fun.  She answered my (always slightly odd) questions with a chuckle or an anecdote, and I was totally smitten.

By the time we got out to The Lodge at Stillwater, where I photograph, I felt like we were old friends, and our shoot began equally effortlessly.  She’s a DREAM — D R E A M — to shoot.  Moreover, she adopted characters for the shoot that fit the mood, tone, time-of-day, purpose, etc, of the session, and before my very eyes I watched this sweet young woman transform into someone that was, at times, haunted, demure, intense, forlorn, confident, pensive, sexy, and silly.  It was magic, and I love the results.
