Miles | Boston Family Photographer
Almost six years ago, I attended a wedding on Cape Cod.
It was a gorgeous event in every way. Venue, weather, details — absolutely perfect. What struck me most, though, was how each aspect of the weekend-long event was carefully considered, crafted, and presented to make guests felt like welcomed, enveloped family. One-on-one time with the grooms was ample, showing us that our presence was valued and appreciated. Informal get-togethers gave the guests a chance to get to know one another in unique ways. Randomly selected guests were given impromptu readings at the ceremony, which provided us a fun and meaningful role in their event. My favorite? So we could be a part of their union, the guests were seated in a circle around the grooms as they recited their enormously moving and personal vows. Oh, no, wait — my favorite is that numerous guests asked for copies of their vows because they were so remarkable. You couldn’t help but feel inspired by the stories, commitment, and dreams they were generously sharing.
I remembering savoring everything, feeling so lucky to be a part of their life together. Really.
Do you know people like that? Friends that impress you so much that you just want to be around them, basking in their interesting-ness? Friends whose successes make you all lit up inside because you know they have earned — and are deserving of — every single wonderful thing that ever happens to them? Friends that live/experience/manage their lives in ways that make you want to be better too? Anyone that knows *the Jons* gets exactly what I’m saying.
And then there were three…
I am, of course, describing the men in this collection. I still feel lucky to be in their lives, and I was overjoyed recently for the opportunity to photograph them with their son, Miles (… and their pup, Roxie, and Jon’s parents). Loving Jon and Jonathan before didn’t even begin to prepare me for the level of adoration I felt when I saw them with their little boy. They have added the most joyful, easy going, precious little being to their world, and these three couldn’t be more full of beauty and delight.
I left this Boston-area shoot not only happy but enlightened. Vicariously, I guess. Love poured off of them in smiles and laughter, and I soaked up as much as I could. When we drove away, V, who’d never met them, was positively beaming. “They are wonderful,” he beamed. “I love who they are.”
Yup. My sentiments exactly.
