Several months ago, V & I went to California for a few shoots.  As always when we travel, we like to take a little extra time to explore & document the places we visit through photographs.

I’ve wanted to see the Redwoods for ages (and Victor had read about them ever since he was a kid in Russia, so he was totally on board with planning a drive there).  It’s not only the trees that fascinate me (their history, age, width, height — everything!) but also the *feeling* I get when I walk into the misty, mossy dampness that lies underneath the trees’ canopy.  It’s like a fairytale come alive — something honestly magical overtakes my mind and I’m a kid again, traipsing through the woods, feeling small and curious and wondrous.  And then… the trees empty onto a rocky, deserted beach, and I’m not sure there’s any string of adjectives I can use that will convey how much I’m overcome with tranquility and awe.

What’s cool to me is that V’s the same way, so we meander in silence through the blanket of ferns and bark as our imaginations take over… or we’ll pepper the quiet walk with ridiculous questions about anything that pops into your heads — only, neither of us find them ridiculous and we play along with each other’s reverie.  I love it, and our Redwoods trip was every bit as fanciful as I’d hoped.

In addition to our Crescent City, NorCal, jaunt, we hit up a few piers and coastline attractions also pictured below.  Viva la California!
