I saw my first issue of Park City Magazine when V & I moved to the area a few years ago.

I loved it immediately.  The size of the book.  The weight, feel, and texture of the pages.  The layout and design.  Noticing it as one of the few magazines in the Whole Foods in the check-out line, alongside Bon Appetite and Vogue.  Everything about this publication screamed *high quality* to me.

Flipping through that issue, I immediately noticed the last page.  It’s always a single photograph with a few words of copy, and I remember thinking how fabulous.  An entire page devoted to a photo that really says something about Park City & local life.  The first back page I saw belonged to Dan Campbell, a renowned photographer that lives in Park City, and it was a beautiful photo of a little boy at a rodeo.  I honestly thought to myself that Mr. Campbell must feel so amazing — seeing his work in these pages, seeing his work on *that* page — man, I couldn’t imagine the feelings of pride and accomplishment.  I actually don’t even think I bothered hoping that a piece of my work would ever find itself there; but I did pursue the magazine’s art director and editor, introducing myself and letting them know that it would be an honor to work with them if they gave me the opportunity.

I’ve written several pieces for the magazine (here and here and here), but my photographic services were never requested.  Until a few months ago, when I got a call about the image below.  I knew it was going into the magazine but never, in a million years, fantasized it would be a Last Pager.  When I opened the magazine a few days ago after returning from our recent mega-work-trip, I was speechless.  Seeing my image there, in such a coveted spot (to me, anyway)… oh, wow.  I felt like a million dollars.  TWO million dollars.  Just… so meaningful.  I held the thick paper in my hands, flipping it over to show V, and my mouth just hung open.

A dream of mine came true with that publication.  And I’m pretty damn excited about it.
