Ideas | What To Do With My Photos
We had eight photo shoots this weekend. Eight. I’ve shot some long weddings, which are always exhausting in a way that doesn’t seem possible but really is, I swear; but the shoots over the past few days wore me out like nothing we’ve ever shot before. By Sunday night, we were d.o.n.e.
Of course, this morning rolls around, and after a little sleep, we were raring to start another day! V left for his copper craftsman job at 5.30am, and I hit the computer to begin catching up on emails and proposals and editing. When I started unpacking my inbox, I caught a note from client Robyn Cage (check out our work together here and here) that made me beam. I’m so proud of her. Her latest single from her new album dropped a few weeks ago (watch the ridiculously fabulous video, by Bryce Johnson Visuals, here)… and as soon as the song was released, she was up for three Utah Music Awards. The reviews of her work are out of this world, and V & I can’t wait to attend her cd launch party on Thursday night.
Anyway, her email let me know that she’d created these wickedly cool business cards (courtesy of Moo) using several of the photos we’ve captured together. Ummm, AWESOME. I so rarely get to see where my work ends up, and it always melts me when a client takes the time to let me know that they’ve actually gotten them printed, or framed, or mounted, or done something creative with them (like these business cards — or printed them on driftwood [yes!] or glass or another unique texture).
Plain and simple, there is a WEALTH of innovative companies out there that offer amazing opportunities to create *something* with your photos, and while it’s cool to see them on Fbook or as a screen saver, it’s even cooler to be able to touch them. Have them hanging on your wall, a tangible piece of art that features yourself looking all hot, or you & your loved ones sharing a precious moment. I read an article the other day indicating that the happiest couples/families share several traits, one being that they keep physical reminders of their experiences and personalities around the home, such as printed photographs. Until I’d read that article, I hadn’t realized that, every day, without fail, I look at the four printed & framed photos that V & I have of ourselves. And they ALWAYS bring a smile to my face.
So get out there (literally… or figuratively by googling!) and do something fun with your pics! It’s worth it; trust me.
