Been A Long Time | Aspen Wedding Photographer

I can’t believe it’s been a month since I blogged. I’m nearly religiously on top of things — I’m known for it — but I realized earlier this summer that I was overwhelmed and something — some part of my work — had to take a backseat in order for me to continue focusing on a) delivering existing client work and b) drumming up work for the future. My blogging became an element on my ‘to-do’ list that seemed to get skipped over a bit egregiously.

It’s ironic because, in my branding/business coaching practice, I preach about the importance of blogging. So, yeah, I’m able to appreciate the hypocrisy. :).  But, stepping away from blogging has also made me excited to get back into it in the coming weeks. I have so many stories to tell, experiences to share, people I’ve met… all built up in my brain and Lightroom catalogs, ready to bust out into a post. It’s just been such a busy season that, I think, if I’d been blogging in addition to everything else, I wouldn’t have been able to share the perspective and enthusiasm I ordinarily do when I reflect upon my work.

We’ve shot ten weddings over the past 2.5 months on top of a handful of commercial projects, collaborative styled shoots, fun shoots, and family and portrait sessions that have all been fabulous… and responsible for keeping me up to my eyeballs in editing. Following two weddings over the next week, we leave for a lot of travel: we’ll be out of town for the majority of the next three months with client work in exciting places like Montreal, Boston, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, Nashville, Chicago, and Miami. And, most notably, we’re going to begin some work in the Aspen, Colorado, market, so let anyone you know heading to Aspen that there’s a new shooter available for their photography needs! Helloooooo Aspen wedding photographer!

For now, though, I am as I have been for months: deskbound 90% of the time, editing work with Lifetime Movie Network or ION’s Ghost Whisperer on in the background for far too many hours in a row. For the first time in my life, I have back pain for being seated in the same position for 12-16 hours a day (this is *not* the glam part of being a photographer). I’m beyond grateful for my busy times, but I’m looking forward to things slowing even the teenciest bit so that the stress mellows out and I get to spend a little more quality time with my husband.

So, in short!, more to come!
