Chefdance | Sundance Film Festival
Sundance is about a month away, so I’m revisiting my 2013 coverage in preparation for the 2014 festivities. Huzzah!
I was the in-house photographer for Chefdance last year, and it was an INCREDIBLE experience. Chefdance is the 5-night culinary extravaganza that accompanies Sundance. Famous chefs fly into Park City to create succulent menus for the cast, producers, and directors of festival films as well as festival-goers lucky enough to score an invitation. Chefdance founder Kenny Griswold says about the craziness that is Sundance, “You’re running around, ordering a drink, networking, going from screening to screening, trying to get full on a meal of tray-pass,” he said. “People start conversations but never finish them. ChefDance was created to give people a chance to slow down and talk.”
People pairings are as delectable as the food pairings. Paris Hilton sits down with Tony Danza. Chris Noth hobnobs with Chris Masterson. The crew of the award-winning documentary Anita meets & greets the cast of Afternoon Delight. And it’s all really fun to capture. Some celebs are meeting for the first time and respectfully discussing one another’s work. Others are all huge hugs and gushing accolades about one another’s festival films.
Chefdance is special because people have the chance to sit down & chat over some drinks and a meal. That itself is worth celebrating (… and photographing).
