Connecticut Photographer | Family Beach Afternoon
So. Yeah. Love these.
Gorgeous little girls. For sure. A beach shoot? Yes please. Overcast day and bright colored outfits. Check, and check. All the ingredients for a picture-perfect session.
Faaaaaaaar more than any of that is the fact that the mom in these pics is one of my oldest friends. Like, we were in preschool together (fo’rills). She’s one of my first friends, ever. Old school birthday parties and 80s music and slumber parties and all those wonderful memories of ~childhood~. Sadly, I had to move away from her when we were still little; and life moved on, as it does (although… I super-randomly ran into her at a Lollapalooza back in the mid-90s in Rhode Island, where she was glamorously jamming out to A Tribe Called Quest, as ya do).
Anyway, through the joys of Facebook, we reconnected years ago… and finally, finally got to spend about 24 hours ago in late April. She & her mom invited me & my mom to their beach house in Niantic, and it was truly, truly a reunion. As it is with old friends, it was as though no time at all had passed, and we buzzed right into belly laughs, nostalgia, and life-story-swapping. I was blown away by how much I really, really like this person — how clever & funny & genuine she is, and how much (yes, this is cheesy, but bear with me) a little piece of my soul was filled by spending even a little time with her. A quality, exceptional woman. The bonus of our meet-up? I got to meet her adorable daughters, and she got to meet my V (her husband couldn’t make it… but he’ll be there next time!). It was like we fast-forwarded 20 years and went from tykes with My Little Ponys to fully-fledged adults with families & careers; and it was so awesome to share ourselves with one another.
Plus we did a photo shoot. 🙂 And I love it.
