Family Photos | Promontory Photographer
I’ve noted before that I love getting out-of-the-blue calls or emails from people planning trips to Park City that want to incorporate a family photo shoot into their visit. It’s always fun asking toward the end of the conversation, ‘by the way, where are ya’ll coming from?’ and hearing the name of a state or city that I’ve either been to or can’t wait to investigate.
This family (siblings, parents, spouses, babies) was coming from the southeast to visit their vacation home in The Promontory Club, so I was doubly fired up (Promontory shoot + out-of-towners = two of my faves). They hadn’t been all together as a family in years, so photographing a reunion like this is, I know, very special for everyone involved, and although I may seem relaxed about the shoot, I take my responsibility as memory-capturer seriously. Rain (which we randomly had a LOT of earlier this month) put a little damper on our plan to shoot outdoors, but I was psyched to find a great compromise on the Promontory grounds: a large overhang above a platform where we had plenty of room to spread out for formals and candids. To be protected from the precipitation AND get natural light and a rustic barn-door backdrop?! Yes please. To boot, when the family showed up with ADORABLE little babies — AND with a super fab color coordination (greens & navys & whites, oh my! and accessories!!! look at those necklaces & earrings & boat shoes & sandals!!!), I was over the moon.
What’s a little rain when you’ve got all these smiles and baby squeezes?!
