I found out yesterday that I received a 2015 Editors’ Choice Award from wedding industry publishing platform juggernaut Two Bright Lights.  Ummmm YESSSSSSSSSSS!

Your hard work and commitment to getting published places you among the top 5% featured, from a community made up of over 40,000 photographers and event professionals.

You’re an editorial all-star.

I’m so shamelessly fired up.  See, I work my butt off.  I really do.  In general, but also particularly to get published.  I even wrote about it here.  I’m not sure how much non-industry peeps know about ‘getting published,’ but it doesn’t just fall in your lap.  It’s hours and hours and hours of your day, your week — and some of the time, your pursuits are completely fruitless.  While the acceptances feel amazing, the rejections are crushing.  Yet, you scoop up your ego and keep at it until you see your work (your hard-won, hand-crafted, purpose-in-life work) in front of an audience; until you have given your clients, who slaved to create their fantasy wedding, the chance to inspire others through their own dream-come-true event; until the words ‘your submission has been accepted’ wash over you like a baptism.

So, this award isn’t merely an accolade to me.  It’s an acknowledgement that I’m heading in the right direction.  That my time and efforts are valued.  And that my work has meaning.  It feels good, and today I celebrate my accomplishment. 🙂
