The Shed at Promontory | Park City
We recently shot an event at The Shed, the Clubhouse at Promontory.
I remember hearing about Promontory before I moved to Park City. It’s intimidatingly luxurious, and the clientele are the fun-loving, active fabulous. But, I didn’t know much more. I saw the property in the distance often when driving up I-80 and figured it was simply a collection of magnificent (mostly second or third) homes.
Our scouting for the event we photographed included a tour of the property… and that’s when I felt as though I finally *got it* and understood the magic of Promontory. While gliding along the roads and heading toward various parts of the property, I felt incredibly relaxed. I really, truly did. The Clubhouses offered anything you could ever need, and the charm and amenities of it all sucked me in. Adjacent to the state-of-the-art fitness area was a mountain-rustic lobby where we were able to grab a cup of coffee (absolutely gorgeous — and I said as much to V while I was gulping it down!) as well as scones and muffins, all set out near the fire and the massive plasma television that was broadcasting the news. I meandered over to a deck under which a beautiful pool cascaded into nooks and crannies as people sat nearby on comfy lounge chairs (another pool, a lap pool, was mere feet from the resort pool area). Surrounded by foliage and sensing nothing but tranquility, I felt like I was at home, as though I could kick up my feet onto the plush leather sofa, wrap myself in a cableknit throw, and brew some cider. It was awesome.
Anyway, we were asked to grab a few shots (~10 minutes) of the Shed’s atmosphere prior to the guests arriving, and the following was what we got. The Shed itself is bananas fun for all ages: a bowling alley, movie theater, fireside relaxation, casual dining (complete with a soda fountain!), an arts & crafts studio, arcade, basketball court, outdoor amphitheater, general store, and gorgeous deck with killer views. Super fab spot.
