It’s no secret that I love photographing at the White Barn (see shoots like this one and this one), so I was fired up for this session. But when the family showed up wearing red, white, and blue to a) celebrate the upcoming 4th of July holiday and b) to match the flag hanging from the White Barn? Oh. Double Oh. I was smitten smitten smitten.
I just love all those colors here coupled with the green grass and yellow/green field. And, more than that, I love all the smiles and energy in this shoot. The parents — so friendly and laid-back — were totally happy letting the kids be kids, so not much instruction was involved in having the sisters, brother, and cousins literally stop & smell the roses… and then traipse around the open field. I fall in love with photographing children again and again, and this shoot was no exception. Their willingness and openness to be themselves in front of the lens is pure joy.
