When Tessa told me that her absolute favorite time is Sunday morning, in bed, for family snuggles, I just knew that *that’s* when I had to photograph this crew. You could probably find better lighting & maybe craft more perfect photos in another setting, but how do you replicate the type of intimacy and joy that accompanies a series of genuine moments?
And these guys are all about authenticity. Every giggle, cuddle, squeeze, and smooch made my heart swell. Little Rye was so excited to show off “my baby sister!” and Charlie was happy to absorb kisses and tickles galore while the action happened around her. It was hard to watch everything through the viewfinder — I wanted to toss the camera aside & be a part of all the ~love~. For me, this level of real-ness is what makes engaging & timeless images — and creates memories that last a lifetime.
I’ve known this family since before they became a family — before the I Dos, before the births, before the high chairs, before the tearing-fig-newtons-into-digestable-little-bits. Matt & Tess have created this wonderful little package of people — so eager to welcome with kindness and generosity of spirit, and so easy to be around and savor. It means a lot to me to be invited into their snugglefest. 🙂
