Engagement Photos | Utah Wedding Photographer
How much fun is it to be in love?! No, seriously. Just… take a moment to relive, reimagine, or revel in that overwhelming serotonin- & oxytocin-inspired physiological-chemical-psychological-emotional surge that courses through your entire body. It feels amazing.
Now just consider that your only job for an hour is to be in love. That’s all you have to do. Indulge in the one person that has awakened, inspired, comforted, and treasured you. And, on top of loving you — and on top of you loving this person more than anything — you are starting a life together as partners, as a team. It’s pretty heady.
*That’s* what I want my engagement shoots to look & feel like. Sure, it starts out kinda awkward. You guys are driving to meet me at a spot that maybe I picked & you haven’t even seen. Maybe you’ve never met me. Maybe you’ve never even talked with me over the phone. Perhaps all you know about me is what you’ve gathered from a few emails, or heard from someone else, or seen on my site, or read on my blog… and it might feel like the pressure’s on you to be on stage in front of my lens.
But, it’s not like that. Or, it’s my goal not to make it like that. Our engagement session together is a chance for us to connect face-to-face and get familiar with one another; a test run for your wedding, per se. More than that, though, our engagement session is a celebration of you guys. There is no agenda, and we’ll help you along, but my best advice for this shoot is: enjoy one another. Tap into all those wonderful emotions that make you want to be this person’s other half and relax into the moment.
This shoot with Kristi + Peyton reminds me of all the lovey stuff I just wrote. These two rolled in to the shoot with giggles and smiles and an ease that I don’t often see. I simply followed them around as we checked out a few parts of the Park City White Barn property I’d never before utilized. And it was relaxing, and fun, and intimate. What kills me about watching these two is that he is in the military, and he leaves her for many months a year… and I just can’t fathom going through that with V. I hope these photos are among the pile of memories that brings a smile to their faces when they’re separated. That… and the anticipation of their June 2015 wedding!
