Cozy Snowy Family | Mountain Session

Where to begin.

First of all, I’m a lucky girl.  I’m lucky that one of the members of this family stumbled upon my Facebook page several months ago and reached out to me about doing her family shoot.  As our messages unfolded and we picked a date & time, I learned a little about her, and her girls, and I found myself just really *liking* her.  When I met her (and her parents & daughters) at our session this past fall, I was mesmerized.  They are insanely nice people.  Beautiful inside & out.  Fun to be around.  And, I must say, fabulous on camera (not a prerequisite for me liking people or anything, but it’s a bonus when you’re a photographer!).  One thing I particularly enjoyed about working with them is that they let the kids be kids at the shoot: goof, run, be playful… all I had to do was catch their little personalities with a click of my shutter.

When they asked me to photograph the extended family over the holidays, I was really excited.  I’d heard a bit about each of the siblings — all absurdly accomplished in an awesome-slash-intimidating way — like, seriously: one of Fortune Magazine’s top 40 in 2014; a navy seal; a cancer survivor… each of them not only talented but also fun to be around, each with amazing little families to go with their astounding successes.  A truly surreal group of individuals that not only rock everything they touch but also really love + enjoy one another.  Remarkable stuff, people.

So, I sit here, preparing this blog about these truly interesting people, and I think to myself, again, I’m a lucky girl.  I LOVE that my job puts me in the path of people that are making waves, changing lives, inspiring others — all in all, helping to craft our world into something beautiful and engaging.  Genuine contributors.  I’m just really feeling it today.  🙂
